Sum & Substance is a colorful addition to the shady areas in your yard. Its golden leaves and lavender blooms perform well with very little maintenance.
This hosta has won several awards from the American Hosta Society, including being named the 2004 Hosta of the Year. It can grow up to 30 inches high with a 60-inch diameter. Individual leaves can be up to 20 inches long and the stems of the blooms can grow to over three feet tall.
But don’t be intimidated by its size. Sum & Substance will thrive with regular watering. Although it ideally takes full sun to part shade, it can survive in even heavily shaded areas. It’s also resistant to slugs.
